How to store a knife?
Q: How do I keep my knife in perfect condition and prevent rust?
A: Damascus steel, because of its carbon content, can rust if exposed to humidity. That is why your knife arrives carefully packaged and coated in oil to preserve its quality. To keep it rust-free:
- Clean and dry the knife after every use.
- Lubricate the blade with wax or mineral oil (castor, coconut, or paraffin oil work well).
- Do not store the knife in the sheath. If you must, first wrap the blade in plastic or a plastic bag to protect it from moisture in the sheath.
